Our PhilosophyYour privacy is not a feature; it is the foundation of our existence. This policy is simple because our architecture is simple. We are committed to the principle of
data minimization, meaning we collect the absolute bare minimum required for the Service to function.
1. What We Store on Our ServersTo route messages, our server stores only three pieces of public, non-personal information per account:
- Your Public Key: Used by others to encrypt messages sent to you.
- Your Keylane ID: A random, anonymous identifier for your account.
- Your Optional Nickname: A public, non-unique alias you can choose to set.
2. What We Deliberately DO NOT Store or SeeOur system is engineered to be blind to any data that could personally identify or track you.
- ❌ No Personal Information: We never ask for, collect, or store your name, email, or phone number.
- ❌ No Message Content: All your messages, files, and notes are end-to-end encrypted. We only see unreadable ciphertext and cannot decrypt it.
- ❌ No Message History: Your chat history is stored only on your device and never touches our servers.
- ❌ No Contact Lists: Your list of contacts is stored only on your device. We do not upload it or see it.
- ❌ No Metadata Logs: The sender and recipient IDs are used only for the momentary transaction of routing a message and are then discarded. We do not keep transaction logs.
- ❌ No IP Address Logs: Our application servers are configured not to log the IP addresses of our users in relation to their activity. Please note, however, that your IP address is inherently visible to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and other general network routers.
3. Data Stored on Your DeviceAll sensitive information is stored exclusively on your personal device(s). This includes:
- Your Private Key (the secret key that decrypts your messages)
- Your full message and file history
- Your contact list
You are solely responsible for the security of this local data.
4. GDPR and Your Rights (For Users in the EEA)Livotov Labs Ltd. is the data controller. Our lawful basis for processing the minimal data we collect is
Legitimate Interest—it is necessary to provide the core functionality of the Service you have chosen to use.
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you (your Public Key, Keylane ID, and Nickname) by contacting us.
- Right to Rectification: You can change your optional nickname within the app. Your Keylane ID and Public Key are immutable.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can permanently delete your account, and all associated server data, from within the app at any time. This action is irreversible. We cannot delete the data stored on your device; you must do that yourself.
- Right to Object/Restrict Processing: Given our minimal processing, this right is exercised by choosing not to set an optional nickname or by deleting your account entirely.

5. Data Sharing & Law EnforcementWe do not have personal data to share or sell. In the event of a legally binding request from a law enforcement agency with valid jurisdiction, the only information we could provide is the public data associated with a Keylane ID (its public key and optional nickname). We would be technically unable to provide message content, contact lists, or metadata, as we do not possess this information.
